Living a Colorful Life, Monochromatically!

Living a Colorful Life, Monochromatically!

Do you have that one color that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Like, to the point where you refuse to wear any others? Me too, girl. If you know me personally, you know that black is my favorite color; and I haven’t worn solid colors over two years, and that’s how I like it. But don’t get it confused, I do not subscribe to the age-old fashion “rule of thumb” that bigger people should stay away from bright colors and that only black or dark colors are flattering because they’re slimming. While the slimming factor may be true, that adage is bullshit. Whatever your size, whatever your body shape - you should wear whatever you want because it makes you feel good! So I only wear black clothes because I do what I want, and because I love the way it makes me feel. With that being said, being a monochromatic babe doesn’t have to be boring - I promise!

Patterns!

Patterns are your friends!! Florals, polka dots, stripes - gimme all of them! Patterns are such an easy way to give your outfit that pop of color you crave without the commitment. And there are soooo many of them. I got lucky and snagged this dress for the low - $20!

Colorful Accessories!

Something as simple as a bright headband or hair tie can bring together your entire look. Obviously, these also come in patterns, so you could kill multiple birds with one stone! I got a set of 8 of these for a little over $10 on Amazon.

Makeup!

I absolutely live for a solid red lip! It is my very favorite, along with a good dark plum when I want to feel villainous. I can admit that I am not insanely adventurous when it comes to my lipstick and typically stick to my Holy Trinity (bright red, deep oxblood red, and plum); but it’s something I’m working on. Hey, at least I’m consistent.
