Do you remember the first time you ever got your nails done? Now I don’t mean the press ons you would get from the drug store, I mean like a real deal full set at the salon? I remember I was like 12 *internally screaming* and my best friend at the time and I plotted on getting our nails done. We wanted to do it so badly I believe we walked from our house to the nail salon (mind you this was Chesapeake, not NYC, so it was a hike and two miles). But we wanted it, so we did it; and we were so proud. Needless to say I got my ass whooped when I finally arrived home with a short square set in a horrific shade of blue, haha. I say all that to say, that ass whooping was worth it, because from a young age I felt the transformative power of a good set of nails!
Over the years since I was in high school, I’ve only let a handful of people do my nails; and before you roll your eyes and ask - YES! It is that serious! Of all those lovely folks that have hooked me up over time, no one comes close to my good sis Mary in Chesapeake. Sweet Jesus. Talk about somebody who can slay!! BAYBYYYYYY!
I feel like the relationship between a person and their nail tech is comparable to the relationship between a person and their barber - it’s all about trust! So many shapes, so many colors, so many designs. Whew! Fate brought Mary and I together a little over three years ago, and y’all, I’m not kidding - my life has been forever changed. First of all, she is literally the sweetest person on the planet! It has been so awesome being able to watch her and her business grow over the last few years. On top of that, she comes through with the execution every! single! time! Literally any design idea I’ve taken to her, she’s blown it out of the water. I always end up screaming and shouting like an insane person by the time she’s done because I’m just so fucking delighted with how good my nails look. Peep some of my favorites from over the years below.
